Canberra is a lovely place to visit, and whilst they have some very good hotels around the CBD for you to stay at, if you love camping these might not be the best options for you. Luckily Canberra Caravan Parks rank up there with some of the best in the country. With many of them being located seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but in reality are only a 10-minute drive to the city. Here is a selection of some of the best of them.
Given that it is set on 70 hectares of a splendid countryside landscape, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in the middle of nowhere when you visit Epic Caravan Park. But as you are, infact only an 8-minute drive north of the CBD, it actually offers you a great location. Featuring powered and unpowered sites with access to water, the amenities here are very good and include showers, toilets and laundry. If you do stay here, be sure to visit the Farmer’s Market every Saturday.
Of all Canberra Caravan Parks, one of the most popular and impressive is the Canberra Park. Located right next to EPIC, which you will find on the Federal Highway, it resides only 6 km from the city centre. So it’s a wonderful base in which to explore the city. Opened in 2017, all of the accommodation pods are spacious and well-appointed with ensuite bathrooms. There is also a large open plan dining room that offers delicious meals all throughout the day.
If you love nature, but also want to be very near the city, the Alivio Tourist Park is an excellent option. Located within easy walking distance of both the O’Connor Ridge Nature Reserve and the Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve, this fabulous caravan park is only 4km from the Canberra CBD. Its facilities include an excellent swimming pool with a spa pool, as well as a lovely on-site café and a cool kids playground too. They also offer a lovely buffet breakfast to set you up for the day.
Looking for somewhere to take your dog? Then the Southside Village caravan park over in Symonston offers very reasonable rates on holiday accommodation for all the family, including your canine. Presenting a homely range of cabins, as well as both powered and unpowered campsites, this caravan park is nestled amongst large, landscaped gardens and native Australian bush. Just a 10-minute drive from downtown Canberra it provides guests with a washing machine and dryer, as well as a children’s playground and a recreation room with free wi-fi.
Although technically located in the suburb of Sutton in NSW, the Capital Country Holiday Park can be considered one of the best Canberra Caravan Parks, on account of it being only a 20-minute drive to the nation’s capital. A great place for families to visit, it boasts a lovely outdoor swimming pool, as well as a tennis court, inflatable jumping pillow and also a mini-golf course too. If that requires too much energy, you can always surf the net on your phone with their free Wi-Fi.
